about

A compilation album collecting the various failed and aborted projects of Strife Machine and Null that were embarked upon during 2019.

A Statement From Null:
"First, I don't want people to speculate or add to what I say here. What I say is what I say and if something is unclear or vague they will have to respect that and deal with it.

The shootings in Christchurch came to effect me on an interpersonal level that I could not have predicted. As a result, work on the album that became 'With Reckless Abandon' ground to a halt as I struggled to deal with myself in that aftermath.

I tried to craft and create different types and styles, but nothing seemed to fit quite right. Now, months later, I have decided to compile this half-finished, raw material as, I feel, there are hidden 'gems' so to speak in some of it. At the very least, the compilation will be a unique release among the others in the Strife Machine discography."

Track Rundown:
1: Was the introduction (and sole produced track) for a dark ambient project named Irminsul.
2-3: Are tracks for a "split" with Strife Machine from a 'new' project named Suppressor that never surfaced.
4: Was a Strife Machine track for an (abandoned) depressive rock EP.
5-6: Earlier tracks meant to be released under the 'Suppressor' moniker. Material from "Suppressor 0-2" was given to the Dunedin band Hagatharon.
7-11: A 5 track demo meant for a project named Fargone.
12-13: Are two tracks meant for either Strife Machine or a new (very) Trist inspired project.
14: Was meant to be one of many tracks for a project named Tokoeka, only this one ever materialised.
15: "December Setting Sun" was meant to be one of (two?) tracks for an EP released in December 2019 that never went past early demo recordings.

None of the fifteen (15) tracks had any given names, the ones applied for this album were improvised before release.
No mixing or mastering except for "Tokoeka" which had to have its gain dramatically lowered.
